Thailand Rabies Pre and Post Exposure Prophylaxis Vaccination Schedule
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
PrEP is recommended for individuals who are at high risk of exposure to rabies because of their occupation, travel or residence in an endemic setting with limited access to timely, adequate Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).

**Remark: Special risk group is group of persons at high risk of exposure to live rabies virus (laboratory staff, veterinarians, animal handlers, wildlife officers and immunocompromised person)
Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
PEP is recommended for people with WHO category II or III exposures without delay as an emergency procedure.
- category II: nibbling of uncovered skin, minor scratches or abrasions without bleeding: exposure; PEP indicated with vaccine.
- category III: single or multiple transdermal bites or scratches, contamination of mucous membranes with saliva from licks, licks on broken skin, exposure due to direct contact with bats: severe exposure; PEP indicated with vaccine and RIG.

Booster vaccination
Booster vaccination is recommended for people with exposure through the bite or scratch of an animal known or suspected to be rabid, individuals who have previously received a complete series of pre- or post-exposure rabies vaccine (with cell-culture or embryonated-egg vaccine) should receive two booster doses of vaccine.
